High School Musical

‘Get ‘cha head in the game’ - High School Musical is coming to Whitecross!

The Performing Arts Department is proud to announce that Disney’s High School Musical On Stage will be performed on March 25th, 26th and 27th at 7.30pm in the Drama Hall. A cast and crew of nearly 50 students are putting the finishing touches to what we hope will prove to be both enjoyable and entertaining. Tickets - £5, with £4 concessions can be purchased from the main admin office.

World Maths Day 2010

The World Maths Day Website for 2010 is up and running and students will be getting their username and passwordsduring tutor time.
 
 

Students can practice from now until 3rd March when the real game will take place.

We have created a separate section for Year 9 options to give you help when choosing your options. This section will give you all the information you need to make your options choices. There are copies of all the subject forms you will have collected on the night and also copies of the actual options form so you can print out another copy if you require.

Home Access - Free Computers for students

Home Access is a government drive which will help low-income families to get access to a computer and the internet to get online at home.

If you are a low income family in receipt of certain benefits you could qualify for a grant to buy a computer and/or a minimum of one years’ internet access. The programme is aimed at those that need it most and targets families that do not have access to a computer or the internet at home.

Depending on what you need, the grant allows eligible applicants to buy one of the following packages:

1. Full package (a computer, one year's internet access, service and support)
2. A computer with service and support only
3. One year's internet access only

Are you eligible?
If you are a parent and think you are eligible for a Home Access grant simply call the Home Access Grant Helpline on 0333 200 1004* to get an application form.

Quick eligibility check
Have a look at the eligibility requirements below. You may be able to qualify for a Home Access grant if you:
• Answer yes to three questions in Section one
AND
• Answer yes to at least one question in Section two

Section One:
Are you a parent or guardian responsible for and living with a child…..
…who is in school years 3 to 9?
…who attends a state-maintained school in England full time**?
…who has not already had a computer from a Home Access Grant or similar programme, such as Computers for Pupils?

Section Two:
Do you receive at least one of the following?
• Free school meals for your child***
• Income based Jobseeker’s Allowance
• Income support
• Child Tax Credit but not Working Tax Credit and an income of less than £16,040
• Guaranteed Pension Credit (not Savings Credit)
• Income-based Employment Support Allowance
• Support under Part VI of the Immigration and Asylum Act 1999

THIS SCHEME IS NOT FUNDED BY WHITECROSS SCHOOL - THE SCHOOL HAS NO INFLUENCE OVER APPLICATIONS TO THE SCHEME AND CANNOT PROVIDE ANY APPLICATIONS FORMS THESE MUST BE OBTAINED FROM THE HELPLINE 0333 200 1004
