Latest Newsletter

It is a great pleasure to be able to share with you some more of our students’ achievements and celebrate another successful year at Whitecross. The many articles in this newsletter represent just some of the opportunities we have offered students, both in curriculum time and outside it. Most of these activities would not be possible without an enormous amount of time and effort put in by staff and the tremendous support we receive from parents and carers. Thank you all.

Facebook Safety

Every young person on Facebook needs the ClickCEOP app – this is why

If you have teenagers, then you’ll know most of them will be using Facebook.  You might even be using it yourself...  if so, you will want to know about a new, free application in Facebook that is designed to keep young people safe while they are having fun networking online.

ClickCEOP is a new ‘app’ launched on Monday 12th July which links the young user directly from their Facebook profile to help, advice and reporting facilities of the Child Exploitation and Online Protection (CEOP) Centre – the police agency set up to tackle child abuse.

By adding the app, young people and parents can get support from CEOP on a range of issues – viruses, hacking, dealing with bullying online and they can report someone who is acting inappropriately towards them online.

School Uniform

You should have recieved a Trutex catalogue detailing our school uniform requirements from September 2010. Uniform may be ordered from Trutex by phone, by post or online or it can be purchased from Trutex Schoolwear & More, 99 Northgate Street, Gloucester, GL1 2AA. Follow link to trutex website

I would like to bring two things to your attention:-

Whitecross specific PE kit is available ONLY from Trutex Schoolwear & More in Gloucester. All students will be expected to have the correct PE kit (introduced last September) from September 2010. This will include students in Year 11 from September 2010

Over the last two years we have repeatedly requested that students do not wear lycra “Miss Sexy” type trousers or short lycra skirts. Unfortunately we still have a number of students who disregard our uniform rules in this respect. As of September 2010 the only styles of skirt or trousers which are acceptable will be those featured on page 9 in the Trutex catalogue.

Any students not wearing the correct uniform or PE kit from September 2010 will receive sanctions according to our Behaviour Policy.

For your convenience we have arranged for Trutex to be available to sell both school uniform and PE kit in school on Wednesday 7 th July 2010 from 4.00 p.m. – 5.30 p.m. and on Wednesday 14 th July 2010 4.00 p.m. – 6.00 p.m.
